Building Beliefs & Goals

Beliefs:

1. We believe that all students can learn and deserve an education that respects their individual learning strengths, interests, and developmental needs. Our responsibility as a staff is to ensure that all students have access to challenging and engaging activities. Teachers are the guiding force in leading, encouraging, and motivating students.

2. We believe that students should be guided and expected to solve prolbems and deal with the consequences of their actions. We believe misbehavior should be handled with natural consequences while maintaining the dignity of the student.

3. We believe that all students can learn through a student-centered and standards-driven curriculum, while focuing on individual needs,

4. We believe students need and deserve a rich and rigorous educational program which is student centered and driven by the standards. This will provide twenty- first century skills combing technology, literacy, creativity, and critical thinking with the core subject matter.

5. We believe all students can learn and deserve an education that respects their individual learning strengths, interests, developmental needs and gives them frequent opportunities to think critically, make appropriate choices, and grow in their ability to express themselves.

6. We believe that teachers, in a strong professional learning community, should design engaging and challenging learning opportunities for students which will encourage and promote lifelong learning for both the students and the staff.

7. We believe that students and staff should work together to create a safe and respectful learning environment in which maintains the dignity of all involved.

8. We believe that students should be given the opportunity to make decisions, good or bad, and be held accountable for these choices and the resulting consequences.
